Class of 2000

El nuevo mileno llegó acompañado por dos promesas en el escenario político mundial. Estados Unidos y México tenían un nuevo líder. Vicente Fox Quezada y George W. Bush eran los nuevos rostros que guiarían a estos países (Realmente Bush entró en los primeros días del 2001 pero les pido me concedan unos cuantos días). Hoy ambos mandatarios son vistos como dos enormes errores.

Yo soy de los que piensan que para analizar una presidencia hay que dejar que pasan algunos años (mínimo un periodo presidencial), para de esta manera saber cuáles fueron los impactos que tal o cual lider tuvo sobre su país. Teniendo esto en mente voy a decir que Vicente Fox y George Bush son dos de los personajes que más pronto van a querer olvidar los ciudadanos de sus respectivos países (....¡¡¡¡aunque los gringos reeligieron a BUSH!!!!!). Pero si algo hay que reconocerlas es la cantidad de frases que inmortalizaron. Ahí les van algunas:

VICENTE FOX

> "América Latina debe huir de la 'dictadura perfecta', como lo dijo el premio Nobel colombiano de Literatura Mario Vargas Llosa." (ahhh chinga ¿qué no era peruano? y ¿cuando le dieron el Nobel?)

>"No hay duda que los mexicanos y la mexicanas, (...)están haciendo trabajos que ni siquiera suelen hacer los negros allá en Estados Unidos"

> "Ya hoy hablo libre, ya digo cualquier tontería, ya no importa: ya, total, yo ya me voy."

> "Comes y te vas" (A nuestro grandioso Presidente se le ocurrió decirle esto a uno de los aliados históricos de México, y luego nos preguntamos porque los latinoamericanos no nos ven a los mexicanos como parte de América Latina sino como una extensión del imperio yankee)

>"Todavía no daremos a conocer el gabinete, vamos a darle emoción; es como las mujeres cuando están bailando: si llegan a enseñar tobillito nada más, es cuando se pone bien la cosa" (uuuuy como me encanta q las mujeres enseñen el tobillo... ufff me dan escalofrios nada más de pensarlo)

>"Sí hice muchas travesuras de chiquito y las ando haciendo también de Presidente" (jaja no mames!!!)

> "Necesitamos la varita mágica de Harry Potter."

> "Los mandatarios no pueden detenerse porque el mundo se tiene que mover." (Áaaaaaaaaaamonos!!!)

> "Honestidad, trabajar un chingo y ser poco pendejo" (Le preguntaron en abril del 2000 a Fox que qué le ofrecía a México.....)

> "Hemos roto el mito de que México no podía contar con una policía honrada." (¿seguro?)

> "Felicidades, señor Volpe" (jaja pinche Fox ... esto se lo dijo Fox a La Volpe cuando calificó a México a octavos en el Mundial de panbol)

> "Está en su punto, diría yo, está de primera, está de pelos como dicen los chavos." (A Fox le preguntaron sobre el papel del Ejército en Chiapas... y sr. Presidente ¿cómo está el Ejército? Está de pelos)

>"El cura Hidalgo fue un promotor de la micro y pequeña industria." (jajaja!!!.. yo siempre supe que tenía algo de liberal este sacerdote)

> "Cambiemos de raíz sin cambiar las raíces" (no lo intenten en casa, se me vayan a lesionar)

> "Así como me ven de rancherito y con botas, también sé ser estadista y gobernante, y también sé cuándo usar traje y hablar bonito." (eso nos quedó clarísimo)

GEORGE W. BUSH

> "It was amazing I won. I was running against peace and prosperity and incumbency."

> "Every nation, in every region, now has a decision to make. Either you are with us, or you are with the terrorists"

> "I just want you to know that, when we talk about war, we're really talking about peace."

> "I call upon all nations to do everything they can to stop these terrorist killers. Thank you. Now watch this drive."

> "The best ethics course is to handcuff one of the bastards."

> "My trip to Asia begins here in Japan for an important reason. It begins here because for a century and a half now, America and Japan have formed one of the great and enduring alliances of modern times. From that alliance has come an era of peace in the Pacific." (Perdón, pero ¿qué no hubo una guerra que acabó con una de estas naciones tirando un par de bombas atómicas en la otra?)

>"There's an old saying in Tennessee — I know it's in Texas, probably in Tennessee — that says, fool me once, shame on — [pauses] - shame on you. Fool me — I can't get fooled again." (¿Quedó claro?)

>"I don't know why you're talking about Sweden. They're the neutral one. They don't have an army." (al Presidente Bush se le propuso que el ejército Sueco fuera una fuerza de paz en Palestina)

> "Major combat operations in Iraq have ended. In the battle of Iraq, the United States and our allies have prevailed."

> "I don't know of anybody in my administration who leaked classified information. If somebody did leak classified information, I'd like to know it."

> "I think people attack me because they are fearful that I will then say that you're not equally as patriotic if you're not a religious person. ... I've never said that. I've never acted like that. I think that's just the way it is."

> "I understand not everybody agrees with the decisions I've made, but that's not unique to Central or South America. Truth of the matter is, there's people who disagree with the decisions I've made all over the world. But that's what happens when you make decisions. "

>"Do you have blacks, too?" (Se lo dijo a Henrique Cardoso, el ex-presidente brasileño, en una reunión en la Casa Blanca)

> "That makes sense to me, doesn't it?"

> "Our enemies are innovative and resourceful, and so are we. They never stop thinking about new ways to harm our country and our people, and neither do we."

>"The California crunch really is the result of not enough power-generating plants and then not enough power to power the power of generating plants."

>"I must say, I'm a little envious. If I were slightly younger and not employed here, I think it would be a fantastic experience to be on the front lines of helping this young democracy succeed. It must be exciting for you ... in some ways romantic, in some ways, you know, confronting danger. You're really making history, and thanks." (a Bush se le ocurrió decirle esto a unos soldados en Afganistan)

> "I would say the best moment of all was when I caught a 7.5 pound largemouth bass in my lake." (A Bush le preguntaron el mejor momento desde que llegó a la Presidencia....un pescado fue lo mejor?!?!?! Ese pescado seguro hacía maravillas)
